Nine Minutes Returns - Energy Nearly Burns Scout Bar to the Ground!
By Eloise Biggs
Nine Minutes, one of Houston’s best metal bands returned with a vengeance Saturday March 21st. This band has opened for many national acts, Unearth, NonPoint, Chimaira, hell - it was shortly after the release of their EP, ‘Art Dies in This Town’ that they rocked Mayhem Fest at the Woodlands. If you never heard them before, they are an energetic band who at times are described as similar to August Burns Red. Despite their intense energy, meticulous metalcore, and growing fanbase, the band had to process some personnel changes to evolve. These changes and the recording of their newest LP had taken them away from live performances for much of 2014.
The lineup now features Angel Carrera on bass and a return to Jesse Cardoso on vocals. The crowd at Scout Bar Saturday was witness to the full force of this evolution as Nine Minutes returned to the stage. People filled the venue. During their set, there were wall to wall people, moving, impassioned by the intense melodic music, forceful vocals, killer breakdowns, and brilliant lyrics. This is premium metalcore! The crowd’s approval was evident from the loud cheering for both their well loved songs from the EP and for the new songs - including their latest single “Lost” which was very well received. Nine Minutes also had killer new merchandise on hand, and it’s a good thing too because there was a demand for it by excited and supporting friends.
Visionary Noise partner and Executive Producer Micah Jackson when asked about the band's hiatus and upcoming LP stated that, “Nine Minutes is a band that knows exactly what they want and how to craft their work. They worked with some interim vocalists - that were really good. However, with Jesse they have found their voice, furthermore, they have honed and crafted their music so well it is astonishing. I have the utmost confidence in the new album and the band. The fervor demonstrated by tonight’s audience will only be replicated by many more crowds once they experience the music. Visionary Noise, and I, are proud and honored to work with Nine Minutes, they are professional, creative, and relentless!!”
